Any way to turn off the "line too short" message? I need to create 0.7mm plating and i simply can't

Hi everyone!

 

I need to create a custom profile plating with a width of 0.7mm, and simply can't because of the lines being too short (under 0.8 mm). Is there any way around this? What steps would you take to create a custom sheet metal profile?

This is a documented Revit limitation. There is no way around it. 

 

Use a different program designed for fabrication to get your desired results.

Only way to achieve this is to create thicker solid and use void to cut off the access.

That's not achieving it, it's not even a work around. That's just plain faking it for a drawing and doesn't accomplish anything close to creating a profile.

Do you need to be exact? When I work in Revit my tolerance is 5mm, to create a profile that is 0.7mm when built, I would just make it 1mm thick to make it work in Revit. The difference would not matter to the rest of my model.

This is one thing that has always irked me about revit.  I get not allowing model objects to go too precise as that would just bog down the processing of 3d objects but WHY cant I make detail lines in drafting views as small as I want?!  Like we're never going to have to draw a metal stud in a detail or something.

 

Sorry I'll get off my soap box... To answer your question I think everyone else has said it already... can't do that here.  create a profile that represents .7mm as thin as you can (1mm?)  I know in imperial its 1/32" which for a building component is pretty tiny.  If you are making fabrication drawings... I'd use Inventor or Fusion 360

i believe RVT limit is 0.8mm (1/32") but RFA is 0.2mm (1/128") so you can do it in family, any workaround for below 0.2mm (1/128")?

It's a limitation by design. Any attempt that works will likely break eventually. I would advise avoiding trying to get around this.
