Ambient Shadows

How do I control the darkness of the Ambient Shadows?  I tried to use the Shadow controls.  It didn't seem to have any effect on the ambient shadows at all.

I want to use them, but turn them lighter.

Thanks

Ambient shadows are on or off. There is no user setting to control how dark/intense they are.

It at least lets you know there are not user controls within Revit for controlling the darkness of ambient shadows, so you can stop looking for a setting.

The OP marked as solution. I suppose you can appeal to them to un-mark it.

Hmm.....If you change the Graphic Display Options to be Sunlight you can change the Ambient Light and Shadows and Sun intensity.  Unless that is what you already tried?  That is going to be the only option, along with the time of the day.

....... YES..... there is a way to control the intensity of shadows and exposure.

..... go to your view

Capture.JPG

......open graphic display options

Picture1.jpg

...... style : whatever you wamt

..... show edges, smooth lines with anti-aliasing

... cast shadows

... show ambient shadows

.... and then:

... go down and open Lighting

... in here if you tweak these sun , ambient light and shadows you will get the ambient shadow that you want.

Turning the ambient light up is NOT the same thing as adjusting the shadow darkness. The shadows control there is only affecting the cast shadows I am pretty sure. There is not a control for the intensity of just ambient shadows. Yes the other settings can be manipulated can probably be adjusted to get closer to what you are after.

....  the question is: How do I control the darkness of the Ambient Shadows?

... to me it's pretty clear that I can control those shadows from the lighting in graphic display options

.... look how clear can get keeping the idea of the ambient shadows

If you extend the far clip setting of the view to something like 1000' or 2000' it will lighten the ambient shadows a little.
