Ambient shadows on interior perspective views darken when zooming

Hi,

I would just like to see if anyone has experienced this or has a solutiuon?

When zooming out from the view(interior perspective view) the ambient shadows get very dark and when zooming in to the view they lighten to the desired result.

…. Yes, sometimes that happens

… if you zoomed in a 3d view the ambient light barely will change

… also if you insert that 3d view into a sheet

… it will change depending of the size

…. you can go to graphic display option

… play with the lighting setting

... Sun - Ambient light - Shadows

... this will fix your zoomed view

I am happy with the lighting in the view when I am zoomed into it, The problem I have is when the view is placed onto a sheet and I zoom to the extent of the sheet the shadows get really dark. The ambient shadows are changing as you zoom in or out on the sheet.

How does the sheet print? If the print result is as expected then no need to be worried, the view graphics are degraded when zooming out is a normal behavior.

Unforunately it prints with the dark shadows, so I can only use the view without the ambient shadows, which is a shame as it looks much better with them on when zoomed into the view.

This post needs to be addressed by Autodesk. I've spent far too much time chasing this problem, to no avail. Even with 'shadows' in the lighting dialogue box turned to 0, the further from the camera, the darker it gets for interior views. Zoomed in within Revit appears correct, but placed on a sheet, with zoom extents, the shading you get is how it prints. 3/4 of my views are unpresentable as is. Only workaround is to turn ambient shadows, which as OP said, is a shame, because ambient shadows do look good if printed 'correctly'.

Just wanted to add that we're seeing the same issue as well. Adjusting the lighting settings won't fix the problem because the ambient shadows' falloff and darkness level shift relative to the view's size on the screen (and vary between different views and sheets). The prints turn out even worse, and are inconsistent. Has Autodesk ever responded to this?

It's very difficult to perceive space and form in an image if there isn't at least some level of light/shadow to render those forms. Ambient occlusion is a pretty common feature in other 3D software nowadays, why does Revit offer it if it doesn't work?

Or at the very least Autodesk could let people know it's a glitch so we stop wasting our time trying to find workarounds for things like this.
