Align cut pattern in linked model

We have a structural model linked to our architectural model and there is no cut hatch pattern for the structural walls we need to show. I can use a filter to apply the pattern, but even though the cut pattern is set to Align with Element, it's not aligning with the walls, rather with the orientation of the overall linked model.

As a test I created a simple building of four walls, with no cut pattern applied:

I then linked this into another model and rotated it and then applied a filter for that wall type name to display a cut pattern:

And this is the result:

Any ideas how I can get the pattern to align with the wall elements - like this:

I am going through this because we are getting a new model pretty frequently from our engineers and we don't want to have to edit their model to show the proper hatch patterns every time they update their model.

Any clues would be appreciated!

Dan

Hi Daniel, do you know if the structure model has a material assigned to the walls. If so then you may consider matching the link file to a material in your file, using the view properties for the linked file. The pain is this is view specific, unless you set a view template.

Filters work OK but you have the same issue of setting for each view.

If the structural model is using 'default Wall' material or not assigned you can use the same principle.

I'm unable to adjust the materials in the linked file without opening the linked model. I want to accomplish everything on our end using VG, Templates and/or Filters, if possible.

@DanielBush can you verify that the Detail Level for your view is set to Coarse?  The alignment of the poche with a filter only work if walls are generated at Coarse.  If you want the majority of categories in the view to be Medium or Fine, then just change the Detail level for walls to Coarse in VG window.
