adjusting spacing while using "Use Baluster Per Tread On Stairs" (2015)

I am using the "Use Baluster Per Tread On Stairs" feature. while doing so I have said I want 2 balusters per tread. it spaces those balusters 4" apart. IBC says that I cannot have a 4" sphere that can fit through the balusters. up at the top of the edit baluster placement window I have the distance from previous set to a distance that complys with the IBC 4" sphere rule.

is there a way to adjust the spacing when the "Use Baluster Per Tread On Stairs" is checked?

Is the spacing of the balusters 4" clear? or center to center? 

It should be center to center. With 3/4" balusters, that will make spacing less than 4".

I have (2) 2" wide tube steel balusters on each tread. IBC says that you cannot fit a 4" sphere between the balusters.
