Adding Windows to Two walls in different phases

Hello,

I am trying to add a window to two walls that are in different phases. Let's say I have an existing wall and I want to remove the existing siding and add new siding and new windows. I joined the walls but it is not working. It is working with the doors but not with the windows. I tried using other families too.

In the image:

Orange is Existing

Blue is new. The windows are in the "New construction" phase.

Do you have any advice?

Thank you.

If the walls are joined and the window should cut both.  Maybe your window family using a void, not an opening cut.  Can you share the family?

Thank you for your quick response.

I discovered that the problem was with the family. I didn't know how it should look to cut both walls, so I just changed the window.

Thank you!

Hi,

That is exactly the problem. Could you tell me how I change the void with an opening cut? Or how Do I create that opening?

Thank you!

Changing from void to opening cut in the family is simple but you may still need to use void if the cut is more complex than an opening can handle.  But there is more work involve to make the void work.  It's best if you can share your window family here.

Your opening is simple enough that you need not use the void for it.  Delete it and create a Cut opening.

Revised family attached.
