Adding Water in a Pond`

Hello All,

I have been watching a lot of videos on how to make ponds using the toposurface feature. However, my CAD will not let me select the surface face where I have created a pond to be able to change the material to water. Does anyone know how to correct this?

Are you saying you can't select it the Surface?  It that the issue?

Subregion or Split Surface?

Maybe you have a selection restriction active.

...maybe Select Pinned Elements?

To change the material:

  • See Parameter on the properties palette ... you can change it from there (Marked in Red - see image below)

To select the surface:

  • You first need to finish the sketch mode by selecting the GREEN Tick . After you finish the edit mode you can select the created surface/region (marked in Blue - see below image)

Another approach would be to do it as a Building Pad and change the thickness and material of the Pad.

i did the split surface and was able to add the water material, but it just stays a white color, is that something you can only see in a full rendering?

If you changed the Material, then inspect the Material's Properties. Could be fully Transparent.

...or maybe it isn't transparent at all. I see you are in Realistic Mode, so the settings under the Material's Appearence Tab are what's being shown in the View. Play with those. Maybe even swap out the Asset for another one from the Asset Browser. Know how to do that?

...actually, could be nothing is there too. Did you hide it or move or phase it out?

You can post the File here if you want.

I don't see where the white is coming from.  Did you read the rest of my edited post above where I mentioned that it may not be there in the View?

Tell you what: post the File.
