Add Label To Can Light

I'm trying to add a label to the stock Revit can light. We want to add an "L" for low voltage. I see no label option under the create tab. I made a symbol family with a label on it with the L and loaded into the ground floor level in the can light family. When I loaded it into the project I was surprised to see all the wires messed up. Please see screenshots. Why is this happening and how can I add a little marker to these cans that denote 'low voltage'?

Try "nesting" a Generic Annotation family into your can light family, then load into the project.

Make sure Generic Annotations are turned on in the View under VG.
