I am trying to build an adaptive component family in order to calculate the egress path. I need it to report the level, the lenght and a comment field. I essentialy built this (or this).
It is working exactly like I want it to, except for the fact that the level parameter always report the lowest level in my project. I tried to place it in multiple different plan views (on different levels), I tried to place it in 3D while specifying my work plane (See attachments), I tried to place it on the face of a floor.
No matter where or how I place the family, it will apear at the expected height and on the expected work plane in 3D, but it will report the lowest level (NIVEAU SS3) as a host. Does anyone have a solution?
Thanks!

An approach that worked for me was to create a railing type. It works beautifully - reports distances going up and down all the stairs that I could want. I understand that this is a significantly different approach from what you are working on, but it works and with the appropriate view filters and a railing tag, this has saved our team a lot of time creating Life Safety plans.
Okay here is a workaround assuming the path of travels will crossing at least one Room
- Turn On Room Calculation Point in the family
- Pull Level parameter from Room in the schedule
The room calculation point trick is a good idea, I'll definitely remember this one!
This is the cause of the problem. The family behaves correctly in an English version of Revit.
Thanks!
