Accurate quantities from Curtain systems

Hi everyone,

I’m working on generating quantities from a ceiling modeled using a sloped glazing system with a curtain system in a 1200x600 grid. It functions fairly well in principle, but I’ve run into a issue with accurate quantity extraction for the mullions.

The problem:
Where mullions are not continuous—i.e., they stop end-to-side against a perpendicular member—their reported lengths are being underestimated. The system seems to subtract the width of the intersecting (continuous) mullion, resulting in each segment being about 40mm shorter than its actual required length.

What I’ve tried:

  • Adding 40mm to each non-continuous mullion length manually or via schedule rules.
This works in uniform conditions, but falls apart where additional grids break up the mullions. In such cases, the adjustment results in an overestimation by 40mm or more per segment.

In short:

  • Mullion quantities are short by ~40mm when interrupted by another member.

  • Adding a fixed 40mm to compensate doesn’t work where the system introduces extra breaks.

Question:
Has anyone found a method, whether through modeling best practices, custom parameters or Dynamo scripts, that reliably generates accurate lengths for segmented mullions in a curtain system?

Looking for something robust and ideally automatable, given this pops up across multiple projects.

Thanks in advance for any insight.
