5 Point Adaptive Component Family - Slow Performance Issue

Hi,

I need to create a 5 point adaptive component family based on a metal deck profile. First I created a single adaptive component family and created the metal deck profile. Then I created a new adaptive family with five adaptive points and placed the profile at these points and created the form. Now the problem is whenever I am trying to move the adaptive point up or down it is taking so long to get completed. Is it because of the complex profile shape?!!
Could someone please check my family and guide me in the right direction?
I am attaching the family here for your reference. Please note that the version of Revit is 2019. Thanks in advance!!

Instead of the one adaptive point profile family, create a work plane bases generic family to draw the profile. Place a ref point (not adaptive) on the curve, load the profile generic family in, host it in the cross plane of the ref point, then select the profile and the curve to create form.

Hi @ToanDN Thank you.I will try this on tomorrow. Meanwhile i would like to ask a quick clarification..You are saying that I should create the profile using a metric generic model workplane based family template then load this profile in a new family created using metric generic model adaptive template.Then place 5 adaptive points and connect this adaptive points using spline through points.Then place one referance point on this spline curve and place the profile on this referance point . Then select the profile and the curve to create the sweep. Am I right?!

No.  Place the profile once, not five times, on a ref point place directly on the curve, not on any of the adaptive points.

Edit: I just looked at your family and the profile is wat to detailed and with too small segments/arcs.  Revit will perform poorly either ways there is no point to change the method. 

Can you simplify the profile?  Are you building it for manufacturing?

It is now in the conceptual stage; The Architect wanna see how this deck will look once placed on a complex organic form.

In such case, you certainly can simplify the profile a LOT more.  No one is gonna see that level of detail unless the drawing is at 1:1 scale.

I simplified the profile and the performance is good now. But sorry to tell you that I have now a different problem. The Adaptive component is not following the surface plane. at one end it is perfectly parallel to the surface but at the other end, it is perpendicular to the surface. Any Idea ?! If you need my project file please let me know. I will PM you. I am attaching the 2 new simplified families. one is created as per your suggestion and another one is created by placing a profile at each adaptive component point.

Is that extrusion supposed to be 24 meters long?

At least 10 to 20m or may be more.

The surface is an organic form and the vertical v grid length varies.

Odd...realistically speaking 1mm thick sheet extruded profiles cannot be extruded that long. Flat yes there are 25 and 50 meter rolls but extruded!!! I have never seen them longer than 6 meters

Anyhow, try the following:

1. I used your original adaptive profile 
2. Removed the Offset and left a single line (1mm offset is kinda ridiculous in terms of scale and proportion)
3. Adaptive set to Global Z + Host XY
4. Load into the Host family
5. Spline through 5 adaptive + Divide (Set nodes to 15 ca. 1 node/m)
6. Host 1 profile instance >> activate repeaters >> Remove and create form

Seems to work fine at my end on 2022...still believe its too long for an extrusion though

Your profile family was set to Always Vertical, you need to uncheck that box.  See revised family ( i show both approaches: 1 is what you have - placing the profile 5 times; and 2 - place the profile once.)

BEMO Technical sheet is mentioning greater than 100m Production length.  I followed your method but the performance little bit slow compared to the profile with 1 mm thickness. I tested the family in both the 2019 and 2022 versions. Could you please upload your family?. I am attaching my family here for your reference.

Yes I see that.  Here is the result (gray one) when I created a spline thru the 5 APs > change the profile family to Not Always Vertical > place the profile on the cross ref plane of each AP > select the 5 profiles and generate form.  I have shifted the APs quite aggressively and the form seems to be intact.
