3DS Max to Revit Workflow - IFC import issues

Here is the workflow I go through to get 3DS Max objects in to Revit.

Workflow

3DS Max  Select Edit Poly Objects > Export Selected to DWG

AutoCAD Open File > Export to IFC

Revit Open > IFC

Issue

Some objects don't show up when opening the file IFC file in Revit. I exported the missing objects by themselves and brought them into Revit and I get the following error message.

The following problems were encountered in the IFC file: No building elements were found in the file

Please let me know what I can do to get these models into Revit or if you have a better workflow in getting 3DS Max Objects into Revit.

Thanks!

Can you import DWG directly to Revit? Do you need to manipulate the form in Revit?

I want to be able to move the objects around and section through them. For some reason when I import DWG files sectioning through the objects doesnt work very well.

I found out that the IFC exported from AutoCAD is the one causing the issue. Here is the log for the exported IFC file.

If you load the DWG into a family (either loadable or in-place) I believe you should then be able to section the DWG geometry.

Can you verify if this works for you?
