3D Wall Types

Does anyone create these type of details regularly using Revit? I’m think of using this style for wall types, and by using parts and moving the layers back and forth in the different wall styles, it seems you can quickly get a nice 3D representation of a wall. My questions is, if the wall core was metal studs in the example below, wouldn’t you have to create the studs as a model or detail line like I sketched in red, correct? The other way to ask the question is: if you want this type of detailing, isn’t it quicker and easier to do it in SketchUp?

If you must have this kind of presentation, what prevents you from modeling the metal framing using extrusion or sweep or whatever? While you could do it with parts and wall layers, I would created a generic model family so that it can be reused among projects more easily. You can certainly do it in SketchUp and bring the rendering in as well. It is hard to tell wich way is quicker because it totally depends on you skills at each piece of software.

With that being said, I can't find myself doing this unless it is required for understanding constructability of a very complex intersection. But it is just me.
