3D View: Snapping/Placement of Families in Project: Possible?

Hey all,

(see attached video)

In a 3D view, when placing a family in a Project initially (Generic Families), if you hover of the base/bottom of another family, it allows you to snap to Endpoint/Midpoint/Nearest Geometry.  Is it possible to set more of these in a family to be snapped to?  I have tried a few different things, like changing the origin planes, reference planes/lines, model lines, but it only ever shows the snaps at the base of the family.

I know I can use the Align Tool to snap, but I'm looking for a drag and drop snap.  Is there some hacky way to achieve it?

Cheers!

You might need to define those POINTS as intersections of Ref Planes (or possibly, even model lines) that have their 'Is Reference' parameter defined as a STRONG reference.

You can also share sample families here for testing.

Thanks for your response.  I've tried both of those, unfortunately.  It only ever finds points at the base of the family to snap to.

Any other takers?  Should I give up on this?

Alright, here's two families for testing.  On the Standard, you'll see on the first lugs from the bottom, model lines that intersect in 3 dimensions all set to Strong Reference, and reference planes there too.  On the Ledger, there is the same on the left end.  Thanks for your help!  To be clear, it works with align, but not drag and snapping.
