I just couldn't resist telling the truth about something almost everyone
doesn't understand.
The only reason 360 rendering is fast is because it does not do
precision illumination and soft shadows. Set those three sliders
all the way to the bottom and render in Revit and it will render
just as fast as 360.
What you get like that is a flat graphic artistic look. Not a
"photorealistic" look.
AccuRender used to do the artistic flat look, but 360
does it much better.
I think the artistic look is best for presentation, while
photo realistic MentalRay is best for construction design
and seeing how things actually go together.
The only problem with photorealistic is that it takes WAY
too long no matter what kind of processor you got.
So I'm very pleased with 360 rendering.
