How do you make 2D elements visible only in 2d but not in 3D is the visual option the only way?

2D Elements are not visible in 3D, so what do you mean?

Do you mean lines in a family?  Use symbolic lines instead of model lines then they will not show in 3D.

A symbolic line is just another name for a 2D line.  Goes by the name of Detail line as well.

Pros and Cons??? 2D vs 3D. It has 1 less "D", so it weighs less.  😉

Symbolic lines are 2D lines, only appear in the view parallel to the plane of the lines.
