2D Tree family nested masking region does not mask in Project

Please take a look at the attached family. The lines and the masking region were created in separate nested Detail Item families, then both were nested into the plant family. It looks great in the family editor, but when I drop it into a project the masking region disappears. Help!

You didn't open the file?  I got rid of the masking region family and modified the line family to do what you need.

 

From my experience, a masking region must be in the same family as the other detail items in order fro you to send it above to mask them.  When you separate them two different families, you lose the ability to change the draw order.
