2023 Installation hangs at 97%

I'm trying to install 2023 but its been sitting at 97% now for ages and the desktop app just says "installing...".

It doesn't seem to be asking me to do anything but it also doesn't seem to be progressing at all.

Anyone else had this problem? Any suggestions other than start the install again?

You do not need to use the Desktop App

  • Download it from Account Management
  • Or Download it from Autodesk Virtual Agent

No issue here. Installed directly from desktop app or downloaded + installed.

I'm aware and had already tried direct download from my account which also didn't run properly.

I'll cancel it just now and return to it later.

Probably you were.. your original question did not imply that you did though. You were only asking for suggestions. That said and following your reply...I tried to download the installation parts from AVA on my home office laptop and ran the installation and that worked just fine.

Hence, one can only conclude that

  • Either you have issues with your ISP and/or Firewall/Antivirus at your end,
  • OR you did not try the direct download (via AVA or ACCM)

But hay leaving it for now might just solve the issue too

Thanks. I'll start again with a clean install. Too busy with work just now so I'll try it tonight. Thanks for your suggestions.

I've never had a problem just downloading with the desktop app before but maybe something in my security settings have been changed.

Desktop app download hung up.

"Install Now" option didn't work - seemed to think it was already running.

Eventually I used the Browser Download option (disable pop-up blockers before downloading and then run as administrator) and this has worked fine.

All our system are setup exactly the same and this randomly shows up so it's unlikely to be related to firewall or AV settings in all cases.

Ironically, you'll likely see a Revit icon on your desktop.  If you click it, it runs. At least for me. Not sure what's not "finished" other than the entry in Add/Remove programs.

Going to pock around some more but seems like BS that you need to uninstall it (even though it's technically installed and works) and download it again when the installer downloaded the install in the first place.

Hope they change this again next year so once they can make it worse. Every time that make an improvement, we seem to go backwards.

Use TaskManager to kill it (not the installer Cancel Button).

You'll likely notice the Shortcut on the desktop even though it's hung at 97%. You'll also see some of the installers in the past say things like "You may start using the program while we finish some things up" or something to that effect.

In short, the install is there and it'll run fine from my testing. What you'll miss is the entry in Add/Remove programs but the FixIt tool can then be used if you ever want to uninstall it.

That's what I do anyway....got tired of fussing with their crappy installers. I work enough...I don't need to be reinstalling the same failed install multiple times on the same box.

I deleted everything from revit because of the 97% thing. I try to reistall it and it says its already on my computer

should I go to program files and dump it there? it says C\programfiles\autodeskshared\revitschemas2024

Thanks @dyoungHD5X5 you saved me from having to re-install everything again! This should actually be marked as the solution.

Mine got stuck twice at 97%. Since I don't want to do the same thing over again, I went to task manager if there is progress or not. Somehow it is working.. so I just ended it. I opened the app and it works just fine.

Any solution other than canceling it through task manager? The app isn't there for me.
