Standalone application

¡Hello!, I'm writing from Buenos Aires, Argentina. I'm a begginer C# developer, and I need to create an application which uses the Autodesk Revit API. I wonder if it's possible to develop such application, but without simoultaneusly running Revit (standalone). I mean, create a .exe instead of a .dll, I've read the documentation, but it isn't very clear.( For example: I need to load the family parameters from a Windows form, and with this values, create an element with certain sizes)

May anybody help me?
