Revit API and collection of clicks and inputs among other limitation, policies

I am a BIM Specialist working for Johnston Burkholder Associates a structural Engineering company in Kansas. I am looking to make the engineer's work more efficient making revit buttons. I need to know about limitations and policies regarding C# coding for revit buttons. Specifically collection of clicks and inputs for Data Analysis, exported to CSV for instance. Is that possible. Yes, you can easily collect clicks and button presses on any Windows system, and probably on any OS whatsoever. The Revit API does not provide any specific support for this, so I would look at it from a more general point of view, e.g.,
