Problems creating assemblies with masses.

Good day,

I'm currently using Revit for a professional project in my company. The goal is the following: import an IFC file in Revit to be able to edit it and create assemblies of pieces in the file, add metadatas to these assemblies and finally export the project to an IFC file. But during the importation, some bugs appeared, and after that some elements were missing. In addition, other elements were missing before the importation: in that case, I used conceptual masses to model these complex elements and add them to the project as families.

But here is my point: for some reasons when I want to create an assembly with parts of the IFC file and a mass (family), Revit tolds me that the mass cannot be added to the assembly because it's a non authorized element. or when I go to the Revit website "Help: About Assemblies", it's written that masses are allowed in assemblies.

Anyone can help me about that?

Dear Hugo,

Is this a Revit API issue, or an end user question?

Are you doing anything programmatically, or just using the standard Revit user interface?

If you are not doing it programmatically, please note that this discussion forum is dedicated to programming Revit using the Revit API.

Therefore, you cannot expect an answer to a question such as yours relating to installation, product usage or end user support issues here.

You should try one of the non-API Revit product support discussion forums instead for that:

The people there are much better equipped to answer your question than us programming nerds.

If you are doing it programmatically, please be aware that the Revit API hardly ever supports any functionality that is not also available in the user interface.

Therefore, if the UI does not support this, the API will probably not do so either.
