Download and install the Revit SDK from the below link

You can find a large collection of C# API samples in the "Samples" folder. This will give you enough idea on Revit Customization using C#

This is hard to believe as an actual question.  For one thing, it is entirely too broad.. "How much is programming useful?"  Doing what, exactly?  It isn't very far away from "What is programming?"
