ReMake on Mac available now

Hi all,

We are proud to share that we finished up the Mac version of ReMake. You can download it from here:

http://remake.autodesk.com/try-remake

This version is entirely free during a limited promo period and will be converted to Freemium / Pro by the end of August when we will have an exciting updates for both the Window and Mac version.

please note that there is no local processing on a Mac and we will not be working on that soon, due to other priorities.

thanks

t

Please be very careful with what comment you provide. Calling Windows a more stable platform is border line embarrassing to say.

Truth is that your ReMake / Momento was from the ground up not well programmed - specifically with the embarrassing UI problems you included.

Hi,

Appreciate your feedback!

Please read the post carefully - no attempt is being made to compare the two OS and their overall stability. We like and use all the three major platforms available. And many ReMake developers use Macbook Pro and Mac Pro at work. We are saying the *libraries* we depend on seem to be less stable on one OS over other and we unfortunately do not have bandwidth to debug and fix such issues.

Regards,

Murali

The language you use is different than what was stated in previous posts. I read those posts very carefully. I am also not the only person in this thread that had objections towards the provided comments.

I work on a 2008 MacPro. We have 2017 now. At school we have iMacs from 2015. I personally do not buy into this work station grade GPU talk as long as you do not have the project size that might require such an amount of VRAM or the GPU precision for parallel computation - in case those were reasons that filtered into your decisions.

I personally as a user cannot know what you mean with the specific libraries - as this is not exposed in the posts.

But as a user of other high end applications on MacOS it confuses me.

It's just insane that you decided to do this without giving us a warning first!? You give us an email for every single mesh that is ready, but then one day I'm unable to start the whole program in middle of an important project. Nice communication on this retirement... The whole process of getting bootcamp for Mac is not like installing some small plug-in for your browser and you're good to go. Super disappointed at this.

Now that Remake is discontinued for the Mac, is there any other way to convert triangles to quads in the Autodesk universe.

If Autodesk can't do it, can anyone suggest an alternative solution?

I won't be using the Windows version of ReMake.

I actually noticed the Mac port being pulled during class when I asked my students to quickly get ReMake.

I agree that it would have been polite and logical to send out an email or something to users telling them about

ReMake OS X not being developed anymore.

Educators plan ahead and this totally screwed my project.

Fortunately it was only a demo exercise level digitizing a foam model.

Really!

Maybe you should learn to code better? and use a good library foundation? ...

Poor excuse to ditch the Mac version because you can't code ...

true - but hey you can do it online!

No need to work with a buggy software - the online ReCap works perfect!

@Anonymous I agree pretty reckless from AD not to at least send out notification emails to people so that they have time to adjust.

But there are options:

www.recap.com  this is the same engine just web based

www.agisoft.com this is a pretty powerful desktop engine and affordable

www.regard3d.org this is a free opens source engine that works well too

but after all I mist say ReCap online is a good strike between ease of use and quality mesh
