OBJ(quads) not exporting

Unfortunately, exporting OBJ(Quads) in the latest release (1.5.0.30) does not work. no file is exported.

Which means that I cannot import into Fusion 360 for reverse enginering.

Hi dave,

we will double check now and if repeatable problem, we will fix it.

in the meantime, just so i know - do you experience this with any mesh or with one particular? if the latter, could you share the model? many thansk!

Hi,

We did not change anything on OBJ qud export feature in a while hence there should be no difference between the recent versions. The current algorithm is a bit sensitive to the geometry and size - unfortunately we are unable to predict in advance and warn the user and also unable to prevent the nasty crash - sorry about that.

You could try decimating the model by 80% or so and please try again.

Regards,

Murali

Still broken for me or Fusion360 converts everything to Tri's.

Why isn't this just built into fusion360

I just want a Make Tsplineable button!!!

Hi

A recent change  on the Fusion360 product affects the way ReMake models can be consumed in Fusion.

With that change, Fusion360 by default converts automatically ANY mesh type into triangles at import, making the quad meshes exported from reMake not convert-able to T-splines.

To solve this issue, and have  the usual and correct behavior to import the QUADS as quads, in Fusion360, go to your Profile, Preferences, Mesh tab and on top of the page, uncheck the Box "Triangulate Mesh polygons”that is checked as default

This will solve the issue.  Please let us know if you continue to have problems.

Thanks!

Why not have this off as default? Why complicate things.

Hi Dave

Agreed!  The Fusion team will be reverting to the previous default setting in the release coming out in late September (current target is Sept 21st).

Thanks!

Remake keeps on failing to export to quads even if the triangle count is below 10k

Can you just make it so I don't need to use ReMake to make a Solid in Fusion 360?

I have also been trying to get obj quads to work and i am also not having any success. i unchecked the box in fusion and applied the change. however i am still getting the same result when i try to use quads. in fact when it exports from remake it is getting a ton more triangular faces even though i set it to only have 100 faces to simplify the mesh. any advice would be very helpful.

Hi

this is an issue to log with the Fusion team. the ReMake team has alerted the Fusion team that this change is not ideal and they said they will undo it. But please visit the Fusion forum and log the issue. We were also surprised when we saw the change. tanja
