I would love to be able to create virtual survey data from the point cloud. It's an interesting problem to have so much data that it is still not as usable as one would think. Civil 3D, for example, is AutoCAD based and therefore terrible in 3D. If it were as easy to orbit in Civil 3D as it is in Recap and Revit then I wouldn't even be posting this.
A few possible solutions:
- Automatic topography recognition and region separation with landxml export
- Allow me to pick a set of points with descriptions for export
- this would also be ideal if it had an easy way to create and export breaklines
- Create a plug-in for Autodesk point layout within Recap. I don't think this exists?
- Civil 3D will create topo from a point cloud but this point cloud needs to first be cleaned up. Also, this civil 3d tool usually fails as there are so many points.
