Speed up GCP/Control Point Registration

Speed up GCP/Control Point Registration

The current method of assigning coordinates to GCPs in drone photography is far too slow. For our current project with 133 photos and 16 GCPs, the registration would take around 40mins in Agisoft Photoscan, but takes 2.5 hours in Recap360. Here are several ways to speed that up, from most to least effective in my view.

1. Implement a automatic GCP registration system, using QR codes (or similar) for GCPs

2. After selecting a GCP in one photo, automatically highlight, mark, or emphasize photos that might include the same GCP

3. Show the photos positioned against a map or low-quality point cloud, so we can easily find other photos that might include a given GCP

4. Allow importing GCPs in a CSV

5. Add a way to change the order of the photos in the registration window, and include "time taken", so we can at least look at the photos in the order they were taken

Any work being done on the automatic version using QR Codes as GCPs as Daniel has suggested as the most effective?

Also the lag when marking GCPs is really bad. Why does the program take so long when hitting the "done" button? The wait seems to be longer as you mark more photos.
