I second this. It is very time consuming to remove even a single scan from a project. It's worth mentioning I do not use registration features in Recap Pro but still need this functionality.
I also don't use registration but do use Recap to order and tidy scans. In order to do this I create scan location groups. Simply move one scan onto another to create a location group. Keep adding scans until you have all the required in one place. You can then delete the containing folder, or hide folders containing informtion you don't need. What you can't seem to do at the moment is select mutiple items. This would be a useful feature, unless i'm missing something. Hope this helps.
You should also be able to remove a scan from a group from the first postition. Why does it add scans that MIGHT fit to the first postion? You can't undo it from there or remove it from here.
Was getting ready to post this myself. Really need this ability. I am in the process of combining multiple projects. One came in and did not line up correctly so I need to pull it and re-register. I find myself now deleting one scan at a time instead of the whole project that I pulled in. VERY time consuming, especially on a slower computer that some of us are forced to live with.
I need to remove half of my 50 scan project. The only work-around I can think of is to start over with the correct scans. Any better advice is appreciated.
The best solution I've come up with is to drag one scan onto another to create a group, keep adding to the group until you have collected all the scans to be deleted into one group and then delete the containing folder. It's a bit long winded as you still have to move each scan individually but you can keep a working set and delete the ones you don't need whenever needed. This avoids the risk, as I have done, of deleting a scan only to find it was needed after all.
Grouping the scans prior to deleting is a decent workaround, but I would like to be able to fully delete a scan during the registration process as well as after everything is registered and indexed. Making it faster to do so would help too.
Upvoting this while de-registering about 50 scans one by one. Came to me registered improperly and needs to be redone. Would be amazing to be able to select multiple scans or 'clear all' registration data.
Why is this even an issue we need to submit and vote for? This is basic functionality and not having it impacts my productivity a lot considering the project I was just working with had 200 scans that needed to be deleted.
I suppose we’ve just gotten used to it. 🤷♂️ It appears that autodesk is not developing this software too much. Very little feature releases for quite some time. I don’t use recap for registration so it’s less of a deal
I realize everybody has different needs for this tool in ReCap, but for my given case where I needed to delete many scan positions, I came up with this workaround that might be helpful.
Scenario: Received a single RCP from a company with over 400 scans. In order to make smaller files for the modeling team, but ALSO keep the RealView data for the setups, I wanted to make new RCP files for smaller zones. Normally, you could do this through deleting points, or using the Limit Box and exporting to a unified RCP, but like I said, I wanted to retain the RealView data. At first I thought I was going to have to do a "save as" for each zone and then individually delete all the unused scan positions, but then I came up with a new workaround that is actually an "addition" process rather than a "subtraction" process. In the following directions, I will use the designation "Main Project" to refer to the RCP and Support folder that we received with all 450 scans:
Step 1. Create a new project and name it for the given zone: "Example_Zone-A"
Step 2: Import in the RCS files from the "Main Project Support" folder (for example, in my zone A, I wanted scans 1-40)
Step 3: "SKIP REGISTRATION" - on the next screen it will ask you to do automatic registration; just hover on the button and the option to skip will pop up; skip the registration since the scans are already registered.
Step 4: Now you have a new RCP for the given zone and the RealView still works for the given scans.
Step 5: To keep things organized (and also for my purpose of transferring to another team elsewhere), move the given RCS and auxiliary files (.diff, .llt, .rcc, .thumbnail) from the "Main Project Support" folder and into the "Example_Zone-A Support" folder
In the end, for my Example_Zone-A, I now have the following ready for transferring:

Example_Zone-A Support folder that contains RCS+Auxiliary files for scans 1-40
The result of this process gives me many smaller RCPs and Support folders with functional RealViews for just the scans in each zone that I want for each zone, but I did not have to waste my time with tedious subtractions of unnecessary scans the way we used to do it.
