Compact user interfaces are good, but not always.

I would like to suggest the option to switch between compact (current) and expanded (the attached mockup)

Here is the mockup design, where I simply made all the buttons accessible without the hustle to first pop them out and them pick the tool.

For me, it is less important whether or not there should be blue bars with the titles etc, but rather the ability to reach the buttons without pressing multiple times.

I believe that if you let the user choose between compact (current design) and expanded (something like above), you are not shutting the door for anyone, but rather opening up for a user experience suitable for a larger audience.

I especially like that the mock-up does not have a ribbon.
