To use a mesh in other Autodesk software (Revit/Inventor/Infraworks/3ds Max Interactive) I need to decrease the amount of meshes by at least 90% most of the times. Now with the change to Recap Photo it creates mesh objects automatically on Ultra quality. This needs to be decreased by at least 97% and takes a few more hours to create in the first place. It would be nice to have an option to choose between low and ultra creation quality.   This way people get their mesh object faster, uses fewer processing power and could be charged less than 12 credits each run. Also I think that charging 12 credits for 'Object projects' with less than 50 pictures to process is a bit too much on top of a subscription. Making low quality and low picture amount objects cheaper (free) would be affordable for most testers, gaming/VR content creators, reverse engineers and hobbyists Fusion 360 users. Show More

Now, it would be very good to improve the mesh generation option (configuration).   The idea in this case, is to improve the mesh tool and also that ReCap add tools to work in reverse engineering and to maintain communication with Autodesk solutions, it is true that there are products of the brand related to this, but would be a great improvement in software. Limit box and Point Cloud Inspection/navagation/selection could use a lot of help.   The limit box is so cludgy and annoying. You constantly hover over it trying to find some magic pick point only to hover over it and not find a magic pick point. Why not make the limit box with a grip on each face that never disappears and you dont have to confirm? Just stretch it where you need it. Do you really now how many meters above or below your scan your going need to be? Hardly ever. I'd rather be able to snap it to a point on the point cloud. Please take a look at the way FARO SCENE does it. WAY WAY WAY more refined and an actually useful toolbar pops up and gives you all sorts of tools. Its one thing they're getting right amongst some of their many problems with their software.   Here is a simple demo. Sorry for bad audio. I recorded on my laptop and although it sounds like I'm on a plane to somewhere fun and sunny, I'm not. 🙂 http://autode.sk/2mAIEck     Also, FARO SCENE also has a useful selection tool that allows you to creat what I think they call a "planar view" by selecting all the points you want to view and it essentially "isolates" those points like AuotCAD would isolate entities. The only problem? SCENE is so overly complicated that I can't for the life of me remember how to do it. Thats the major problem with SCENE. There is no structure or thought process to it. its very linear and some of the awesome features go unused because you can't make them work or find them or find documentation for them or you just crash out all the time.   This method would be ideal for deleting out strays or to do any refining or editing without using a limit box. Simple. Select the points you want isolated. Isolate. Delete points. Unisoltate. Rinse. Repeat.       Show More

I "love" attaching navisworks projects. This has been a huge game changer for me. But... The following items are needed desperately: 1. The ability to view models in the 3d view, not only the real views. Particularly if points in the scene need to be deleted. I am working on a construction site. Many items on the construction site will be demolished. I need to see my proposed models with my existing point cloud after many parts of the point cloud have been removed. 2. Need to support 3dsmax, AutoCAD and Revit files 3. better control over lighting and texture colors. A. The slightest changes to the naviesworks model colors have. Drastic impact in recap. 4. Bitmap texture support. Such as: brick for the side of a building. It works in navies works, but not in recap. Anyone aware of a short term bandaid fix for 3d point clouds and proposed 3d models? Revit would work if it had cameras like 3dsmax. Currently the cameras in revit are awful. 3dsmax would be great by you need to render point clouds in mental Ray, this takes an eternity and basically 'renders' itself useless. There is a new renderer in 3dsmax 2018. If this renders point clouds fast it may do the trick. Has anyone here rendered point clouds in 3dsmax 2018. If so, let me know about your experience. Also, 3rd party renderers might also do a better job than Autodesk? I'm anxious to know as I have about 15stills that I'm trying to produce by the end of the week. Show More

Allow more backups in Recap Pro.. I just had my project go crazy, was going to go check the backup files, and i'm only seeing 3, and for some reason they all saved in the last 3-4 minutes. I need to go back to something from an hour ago +/- and can't.. Show More
