We also wish it were possible to export the source image data from scans registered in Recap360. We are using the BLK360 and with it's latest firmware it is supposed to offer the capture of HDR images. After ingested into Recap we can view image data from the various scan locations, but there doesn't seem to be anyway to export these images other than saving screenshots through the view states. Due to Recaps "cloud meshing" limitation of 30mx30m and less than 20 scans we need to export scan data an create a meshes in other software. But when we export .e57 scan data image data is not exported. Recap seems to have access to the 360 panoramic image data captured by the BLK360, it would be amazing to be able to export those source images. Even unstitched would be suitable.

HI - you can get the 360 images - no sweat.   Go to the realview you want on the iPad - click the 'Share Scan' button (rightmost), on the pop-up menu select 'Save Image'.   Then select 'Add to Cloud Drive' - then select iCloud Drive and you should get the opportunity to change it's name.

Wait a minute and then go to iCloud and your 8000x4000 px image should be sitting waiting for you.   Bit tedious as you have to do this one at a time.   Too many of the features of the software aren't really obvious - I keep finding new ways of doing things.   It s great but not perfect.   Best regards.

Still need this desperately for desktop ReCap. I have a lot of engineers who just need to see the photos without opening up the scan. I can dramatically decrease their workflow times if I can get them just the photos. Unlike the BLK360 crowd, we do not use Apple products in our business. Please keep pushing forward with this, really need it.

While I agree that this is a great request, you can get at the panoramic photos without opening the scan, by uploading the project to A360.  The online viewer only shows the panoramic photos from a ReCap project.  (Apologies if that was obvious.)

@Anonymous yes you can, but I don't think (or at least I didnt find the tool) you can save the 360 image as, for example, a .jpg. You can only see it online.

@fpensa  Yes, you are correct.  The panoramics aren't directly accessible from the desktop version of ReCap.  In my experience, viewing these images online is a much better experience than with any normal photo viewer but, of course, I don't know what you would like to do with the photos.

Where did your source data for ReCap come from?  It's very easy to get the panoramics from a FARO project if you have Scene.

@Anonymous we use a Faro X330. I'm aware of the existence of the software Scene, however I've never use it. This panorama exporting tool you're mentioning, is it available in the freeware version of the software?

The challenge we are dealing with is that our scanner is the BLK360 and we are using Recap for registration and export (not sure if the BLK is compatible with the Scene software, but would like to find out). My main interest would actually be to access the source photos, as opposed to the stitched equirectangular image, but I don't think this is supported by recap, which makes sense if the images are stitched internally in the camera. These source images are also not accessible via the camera yet.

We are trying to access the source images so that when we combine lidar with photogrammetry, there's a better chance of alignment, as well as just having access to the undistorted source images for the purposes of texturing.

I am trying to demonstrate to customers the difference between panoramic photos and the 3D pointcloud, and want to show the panoramic image (horizontal panorama would suffice, but I imagine cubic map or equirectangular should be natively supported) in 3rd party VR software. This *has* to be a feature worth including, and without requiring cloud processing, in the Desktop Recap Pro.

Adding the ability to export a 360 degree panoramic image (.png or .jpg) on desktop (same way @r.white does it on mobile) should absolutely be a feature that is included. I just did a job with the BLK360 and having these panos would be very helpful as an additional asset for client

In our case we want to use the equarectangular projections for a VR imaging application. The scanner and iPad are in the field and I don't have access. Please allow export of 360 projections from ReCap.

For the BLK360 if you transfer the project to Recap Pro Desktop they store the raw images in the sourcedata folder of the scan. They look to be some type of binary rgbf format.

Hi guys, I found a way around this but it's not a pretty one (spoiler alert: it requires SCENE - Autodesk guys:how sick are you now?).

ReCap claims you can export photos from their software when in fact all you CAN do is export screenshots without the spheres but still, they are not a panorama. Alternatively, you can "share" them from the iPAD onto the cloud which does the trick but it's such a TEDIOUS process having to export them ONE by ONE (not to mention it would be too late if you want to do it after you imported the project onto your PC and deleted it from the iPAD altogether). And by the way, every time i try and do that on my iPAD PRO (all latest software updates installed & running) it CRASHES.

Aaaaanyway, back to my "solution":

On ReCap: go to HOME>IMPORT/EXPORT>EXPORT. Name your file and export it as a file type .e57. When prompted make sure you click on COMPLETE (not "3D Only"). 

On SCENE: Create a new project. Drag and drop your newly created .e57 into it. Right click on it and look for the Import/Export option. Choose "Export Images", choose a destination folder and VOILA! you will start to get the Panoramas and some annoying thumbnails. Delete the latest one's easily by ordering them by file size (they'll be very small, only a few Kbs). DONE! (hope you have SCENE somehow guys!)

Now, ReCap GUYS!!! How about you just simply add the "Export Images" feature that everyone in the industry is begging for?!

 Lo siento, pero una vez llevo el fichero E27 al Recap, hago el registro, y en Importar/Exportar selecciono exportar imagenes pero lo hace en un JPG plano. ¿?

I am sorry, but once I take the file E27 to the Recap, do the record, and in import / exporting select to "export images" but it does it in a simply flat JPG. ¿?

@Anonymous is not so simple. Export from ReCap doesn't work and that's exactly why this thread exists. The Autodesk team hasn't still launched an easy way to export 360s from ReCap. 

- One way to do it is through the iPAD. You have to do it ONE by ONE. Painful right?

- The other way is using the A360 suite. Haven't explored this option. 

- Lastly personally use a combination of ReCap & Scene (FARO software). All you need is individual E57s from ReCAP (they don't need to be registered). You import them into SCENE and then you look for the import/export>images options and that's practically it. Find a detailed post I did a while ago (above)...
