Think what you can do with a 2D scan of a paper. There are a lot of OCR tools that can convert these pixels into editable text for your word processor.
Or that convert these dots into lines into a 2D CAD drawing.
I would imagine this workflow for 3D laserscans
-> Make the scan
-> Register it and make a RCP project
-> load that in your editing tool (AutoCAD, Inventor, Revit...)
-> Be able to select scanpoints, let the ReCap plug in do it's work to create surfaces or solids from them
-> Change the processed points into another "Region" so that these points can become invisible in the hybrid model.
In my opinion, this Recap functionality should be accessed from within the CAD application but still be programmed by ReCap.
And this also fits the licensing model that a ReCap license comes along with the Editing Application.
