Unable to Create 3D Object and Aerial Functions in ReCap Photo 2020

The Create 3D Object and Aerial functions of ReCap Photo 2020 have a lock icon and I am unable to use them. I am running version 20.0.1.5 and have licensed the product through our network server. I have a perpetual education license for version 2020. I have attached a screenshot which shows the licensed product, version, and locked features. Since this is a public forum, I have blurred out the private information.

Hi @Anonymous ,

The way ReCap Photo detects an Educational License is via the entitlement stored on the cloud, unlike ReCap Pro that's reading your Serial Number and Product Key from your license server. This means that you need to sign in with the same user id you had used to acquire your educational license. And if the entitlement is linked to the user ID for ReCap Photo, the locks should go away.

I noticed that you have not Signed in to ReCap pro which is why ReCap Photo is not signed in as well. Could you try signing in and verifying. Also, you can visit manage.autodesk.com and verify if that userid indeed has ReCap photo entitlements.

Trying to understand your scenario better, do let me know the steps you took to activate your license.

Warmest Regards,

I appreciate the feedback. Logging in with the profile attached to this license worked to get rid of the locks.

Is there a way to automate this sign-in requirement? We are installing this software in a lab, so it needs to be fully available under each student's profile.

Hi @Anonymous ,

Basically once the user sign's into ReCap Pro on a particular machine, the sign-in information remains and since it's a Single Sign-On, ReCap Photo will grab that login information from ReCap Pro. The sign-in needs to be done only once. The following time the applications are started, the login information remains.

So you can have all the machines in your lab pull in the license from your network server for ReCap Pro and sign in using the required credentials. ReCap Photo will follow. The next time these applications are started, there is no need to sign in again.

Unfortunately, you cannot have multiple user-id's attached to that network server in terms of ReCap Photo's method of looking for licenses. A new user-id for Educational will need to be created to achieve that. ReCap Pro will have no issues as it will detect your network server.

Hope this was helpful or you can give me your exact scenario of what you are trying to achieve.

Warmest Regards,

Rishov Barman

It looks like this login only applies to the current user who is logged into Windows. If I log into Windows with different credentials (just as the students will do in the lab), neither ReCap Pro or ReCap Photo retain the login information, and thus the lock symbol is back. Does this sound right, or did I miss a step?

You mentioned having a new user-id for Educational as a possible alternative to ReCap Photo licensing. Could you expand on that? I'm curious if this would be a better solution to my issue. Thanks!

Hi @Anonymous ,

Sorry for the late reply.

What I meant was each student would need to acquire an educational license for ReCap using their own userid.  This is for ReCap Photo only unlike ReCap that supports a network license that can be shared for all.

Warmest Regards,

Rishov
