Keep having to re-index scans that have already been indexed

Hello-

I have a file that has been registered in Cyclone, exported to PTG, and indexed in ReCap.  I am running ReCap Ultimate (2.0.1.5).

I was able to index and launch the file, create some regions, etc...

Every time I reopen the file, it goes back to offering the registration option, and I have to re-index the scans (though this is quick since it has been done previously), then I can launch the file.  My regions I have created still exist.

I cannot get the file to save in a state where this is not necessary to repeat.

Please advise, as I need to send the data on to our client, and I think looking at the index screen will cause some confusion.

Thanks,

-Jonny5isAlive

I'll sharing a box.com folder with you.  If you could upload the project (RCP and support folder), we can take a look and see if we can help you out.

Thanks,

Thank you Michael.  I may go that route.  Not sure I can share the file with you at this point, since it is an open file for us.  Also, it's ~30 GB.

Trying to create a new RCP by re-indexing everything, will see how that works.

Thanks,

hi @Anonymous,

Can you please confirm for me what version of recap you are using? This issue should have been resolved in a much older build of Recap.

Thank you and have a great day.

First upgrade to the most recent version of Recap.

Then try exporting as .e57 or .ptx instead. Recap does not have the issue with these files, in my experience.

thank you for the responses,

we have the latest version of recap, and the scan data is in an .e57 file format( registered in Scene faro sofware)

Having the exact same problems in standard Recap (version 5.0.4.17). Have to re-inex scans everytime I close recap.

Same problem. Recap project needs to be indexed again and again every time is opened. Recap is at latest version available.

Sorry for the inconvenience you experienced.

The fix will be included in the next release.

This issue usually happens when the project was suspended or paused due to some reason. To avoid re-indexing of the scans, try to wait for all scans to be imported before clicking "index scans".

Also, please check if .thumbnail files exist for the scans in the project, if that file is missing, it might prevent launching the project.

Best,

Yan

We have the same issue here although it gets stuck on the same scan and won't progress any further, the project can be launched as it's indexed to 81% but not all the point cloud information is available. If this is a known problem it should be fixed.

Hi @simon ,

Can the stuck can be imported if it is imported alone into a project? If you remove that scan from the indexing screen, will the project indexing continue?

it has already been indexed once it stops when you reopen the RCP file. Is there a way of removing a scan from the indexing screen? There are no other dialogue buttons?

Hi, Just started using Recap Pro last week.

I have to be honest and say it is a frustrating experience.

105 Scans and approx 100GB of data reindexed multiple times...

if it never really saves the progress and if you ever press the home button you have to start over again.

I just had a complete indexed file and after taking a break and launching the project again it started by re-indexing.

sorry but this can be happening.. this is aropx. 12hours of waiting and manually lining up everything..

we need a fix, please?

Ryno
