Hello @nicolasmenu

Thanks for writing to us. I am not aware of any convertor for RCM to RCP files. However to have rcm files integrated in to your rcp files you can user Recap Photo to export .rcs and import these while creating recap project in Recap. Please find more details on this post that may help you.

Hi Nicolas,

Currently there is no RCM to RCP export in ReCap Photo, but we are working on it and will be available early next year.

Meanwhile you can use PTS export functionality and import PTS in ReCap Pro.

Murali

Hi Murali,

Thanks for your answer, this is what I am actually doing. PTS is the only option I could find that would help. Not perfect, but OK for now.
As long as you guys are working on the converter 😉

I would actually like to ask... why no option to export to LAS. Recap photo does a dense point cloud behaind the scene, so why is there no option to save to a standard point clouds file format. .LAS is by far what is most standard anywhere. It is key to be able to input/output LAS even if internaly Autodesk choose to use his own .rcs .rcp or .rcm

Thanks for your time !
Cheers, Nicolas

@vikas.vaishnav... The post you mentionned date back from 2014 and as far as Recap Photo is concerned, pretty much everything has changed since then. Not very helpfull at this time (actually this post should be manually removed from the forums as it mostly add information not true anymore).

Murali came up with what I was doing already,. PTS as the exchange file format. No great, but it sort of do the job...
Thanks for your time and have a nice day. Cheers
Nicolas

@anil_mistry, Yes it does, but I am just waiting to have his thoughts on the LAS format and why there is no export to this as it is the most commonly used format for point  clouds all  over and we can't export to it.. (will tag as solution once this discussion is over) Cheers, Nicolas

Hi Nicolas,

We will evaluate and consider adding LAS export.

Currently, you can use ReCap Pro to export to LAS.

Murali

@murali.p ... That would be good... but there is no export to LAS from Recap Pro (nor Recap Photo) actually... This is what puzzle me !
Only .PTS and .E57

LAS is by far most common...Please export to LAS from Recap  Pro as well 🙂

Workaround us to use Lastools to go from PTS or E57 to LAS. Not very straight forward though...

Cheers, Nicolas
