Setting References to PowerMill API in Visual Studio

I am new to PowerMill API and following the getting started with PowerMill API guide. In Visual Studio, I was able to install the product controls package successfully but not the product interface package. Is there any way around this? Also I am an undergraduate student and thinking of doing a research project in toolpath optimization for efficiency and quality in PowerMill. Would using PowerMill API be the best way to go about doing this project?

Do I need to select .NET desktop development?

Hi, yes, add the .NET desktop development. Note that Product Controls gives you the ability to embed PowerMill into a .NET desktop application. If you just want to control PowerMill via the API then you only need Product Interface. If you include Product Controls then it should automatically add the DLLs that make up Product Interface so you don't need to add that separately.
