deep question on post processing

Is there a file I can see on my machine that shows the sequence of parameters that is sent to the post processor? for example, if I'm posting a path with cutter comp AND I have multiple passes the cutter comp "on" parameter doesn't appear in the debug window in amppu until the last pass. I have a few other instances where being able to fully review the order and maybe edit what and when parameters get sent to be post processed would be very helpful. does anyone have any insight on this?

I did find cldata.htm on c:\ but I don't think powermill is using that file for sending the data. unless I'm way off and this kind of thing IS controlled by amppu.

I have checked that with the default Heidenhain post and where the Cutter Compensation Mode parameter changes is seen in the debugger. Also, it can be seen where the Cutter Compensation On command is even when the command is inactive.

If you turn on cutter comp in the NC program settings and not in the toolpath itself, it will output cutter comp for the entire toolpath, not just the last pass.

Also the post outputs cutter comp on whenever the cut file tells it to. You can just open up and look at the cut file to see this, but there are a few things to note when doing so:

this is great info thanks. my only other question is where is the file that builds the cut file? say i saw something i wanted to change for every output no matter what post it was going to would i be able to do that? what builds the cut file is that in pmills source code or is there like an xml im not seeing on c; that has that instructs the initial build of the cut file?

You cannot make changes like that to how a cut file is structured and for very good reason. Powermill does this all internally and does not let you change it. The only way to affect the cut file output is by changing toolpath/NC Program/PowerMill settings.

If PowerMill doesn't put the data that you want in the cut file then you can try to get around it in the post with things like scripts and user-defined parameters.
