Command no longer works? EDIT MODEL ALL SELECT INSIDE

I have a button with a simple little macro:

EDIT MODEL ALL SELECT INSIDE
EDIT MODEL ALL REVERSE
EDIT MODEL ALL DESELECT ALL

I noticed it has not been working, so I tried using echo commands to find the new command if it changed, and it has not. Why is this command not working? How can I quick select all inside surfaces to reverse them?

I've traced it back to the installation of sp2. Prior to that it works fine. I wish autodesk would address the little things like that. Also step files lose their colors upon import...

@5axes: Do step 214 files come in with all the colors that they had upon export? Mine only come in as white now where they used to have the colors I assigned in solidworks

Hello @TK.421

I have the same issue, it's not a PowerMill Problem but an Autodesk Manufacturing Data Exchange issue. As I don't have to deal with new proprietary format like UG NX11 or SolidWorks 2017 the release 2017 of the interface is suffisent for me. So I'm still using this release to get the correct color import in PMILL.

You can specify the release you want to use by clicking on the COM register of the wished release. I haven't found up to now an issue with using PMILL 2018 with the 2017 Data exchange release.

And if one day you need to import one of the new format you can temporary go back to the 2018 release.

This is likely an issue with your NVIDIA global settings.

Close PowerMill >

Open your NVIDIA Control Panel >

Change the Global setting from Base Profile to 3D App Visual Simulation >

Open PowerMill and test the command

Hope this helps

Are you sure ? Smiley Surprised

I don't think we spoke about the same issue . In our case it's really a problem of Interface . In 2018 the color informations (and Layer) comming from a STEP AP214 or AP242 for the surface are not transfer into the DDX file so every surfaces and solids are white :

Same part import via Autodesk Manufacturing Data Exchange Utility 2017 & 2018

Data Exchange Utility 2017

Step2017.jpg

Data Exchange Utility 2018

Step2018.jpg

Anyway I do not have a NVIDIA card on my PC Smiley Wink

Changing this setting will solve the problem that @TK.421 initially reported. The problem being that select revered surfaces will not select. This is a graphics setting.

The other problem with translating color into PowerMill when importing a STEP file: this is an issue with Exchange and can be worked around by COM Registering Exchange 2017 in most cases.

Ok ... you were talking about the EDIT MODEL ALL SELECT INSIDE issue , it was not very clear in your post.

Good to know that we can have also some issue on this function as we have with the Screenshot function. Do you have a list of potential issues on graphical function linked with the use of the NVIDIA graphics card ?

Sometimes I'm not very specific with what question I am answering 😉

I do not have a list of the functions controlled by the graphics settings, the only other function off the top of my head that comes to mind is setup sheet screenshots.
