Point Layout and Core Locations

Greetings!  I've just started looking at Point Layout and I was wondering if it's possible to add points only where, say, pipes intersect a wall or floor.  Maybe there's a workaround for this?  Or maybe I need to brush up on my Dynamo skills?  Thanks in advance!

I believe that functionality went out in the 2017 R1 release. Try doing a Pipe or Conduit routine (Under the MEP panel on the Point Layout Ribbon in Revit), a few questions in it should offer you " Clash/Intersections with Slabs/Floors/Walls" as one of the options. Let me know how that goes.

Thanks,

Hi Shayne,

I'm not able to get this to work. I'm just not seeing that option. I'm using 2017 R1.

Also, I've tried selecting pipe from a linked file and couldn't get that to work either. I've gone into "Settings==>Revit" and selected "Search Linked Revit Models for Points", but it still won't let me select any pipe from the linked file. If I bind the linked file I can then select the pipe from that file.

Any ideas? I'm I just not using it correctly?

Thanks,

Terry, check this picture, it shows where the Clash option is offered.  If you are not seeing that, I think you are actually on the initial 2017 release, in which case just grab the update from here.

Here is the result of running this on a pipe going through a wall.

In regards to the Search Linked models option, this only makes points that were created in those linked models available for export/Comparison/Manage Pts.  To create points on those models you would still need to bind them or open them directly.

Thanks,

Shayne

Yep, that was it! I was just missing the "Clashes" button. Thanks so much, Shayne!

@s.hamel I've tried this using Revit 2022 and don't seem to have any luck. The points don't seem to generate

You mean with a pipe going through a slab or something similar?

Just did a quick test in Revit 2022 and appears to still work fine:

Will need further information or a test file from you to look any further.
