intersection of line and edge of block reference (not its bounding box)

I was searching the net and I came up with this cool post from @norman.yuan.

apart of the nice graphic work, I was thinking is it possible to do the same with any kind of block reference?
but not with its bounding box. line, getting the most intersections of a block reference according to a selected point from user?
