Convert Naviswork (.NWD) file into a 3D printable format

Hi,

I need help converting .NWD file into a 3D printable format.  Basically, the printing company requires the following format STL,STEP,IGS, FBX or OBJ.  I need advise on how to convert my file into either one of these formats.

Please note that I'm not a Navisworks expert by any means so, I'd really appreciate it if you could recommend ideal software and, conversion guidance (for dummies).

Basically our Drafting team attempted to convert / export the file using Navisworks and the only format we could convert to is FBX format. However, 3D printing supplier could not open the file after various attempts.

This 3D printing project is actually part of a farewell gift for a long term colleague, it has been a mission thus far but, I'm sure it will be worth it at the end.

Thank you in advance,

Yoth

FBX has a file version, just like other formats like DWG.  You're on the right track, you likely just need to downsave the FBX file using Autodesk FBX Converter or similar.

FBX export from Navisworks is pretty much all-or-nothing.  If you have the source files, it would be easier to supply the objects to be printed as discrete objects.  IGES works well, as does STL, and both formats are supported with most basic CAD programs like AutoCAD.  You might also want to give Fusion 360 a go.
