Inventor Nastran does not create mesh for frame made of 8020 extrusions

Hello,

I'm trying to use Nastran to get the Normal Modes of the following structure:8020.jpgMain_Structure.jpg

But every time I try to generate a mesh, I get an error message that the mesh cannot be generated. I know that the 8020 extrusions have some thin elements, so I tried to use the Shell type idealization. That worked to generate the mesh, but when I click run, I get more error messages:

Error1.jpg

And when I click run:

Error2.jpg

Does any one know how to solve this problem?

Thanks.

Hi

In the screenshot you can see that the resolution of the mesh is not matched to the level of detail of the profile.
In my opinion you have several potential solutions:

  1. Simplify profile geometry before analysis.
  2. Check the strength factor of these profiles against steel profiles on the manufacturer's website and analyze the virtual profiles in Inventor Nastran.
  3. Use the durability calculators on the item website.
