Top levels disappear

This has happened to me a few times recently. I sculpt a model with 5 levels. When I close the document and open it again, levels 4 and 5 are gone. I mean, it's telling me the levels are still there but when I go one step up from 3, then the model disappears.

Hello,

Thanks for posting to the Area forums.

Is there a reproducible workflow that I could test on my end? Maybe a file that we can test on our end?

You can definitely report this to development if you would like:

i believe its reproducible. It happen to me on numerous occasions on different files on my workstation. Danjay is not the only one with this issue. This is a widely known bug. If Autodesk would just take the time to test Mudbox thoroughly instead of heavily rely on users to report stuff.

To reproduce this. Subdivide mesh to lv 6 or lv7> add 3 or more layers> do some sculpting on each layer> save the file> exit and reload mudbox> open the file again.

This usually happens to high poly stuff in the 20 -30 million range.

if anyone can attach a problematic mesh in your bug report, it will be easy to debug this issue and find out the root cause.
and to be noticed, please don't use the different subdivision smooth method while you do subdivision, you can find that option in 'mesh->add new subdivision level option' menu.

It happened again, and the mesh is only around 4 million. Very annoying, lots of work lost. Sent a bug report through Mudbox.
