Sculpt using Displacement Map - ONLY HALF ?

When I sculpt  with displacement map, half of the mesh has the displacement map applied the other half, nothing.  I've included a picture of the result as well as part of the displacement/UV texture.

Hello.

This works with your existing UV set.

Please be sure that the UVs are OK.

Look in the "UV view" tab.

Also. try painting in that area, it may reveal bad/overlapping UVs.

Painting on the Mesh is good, it can't be the UV's.

Are you using an image with a Vector Displacement Map and setting that as a stamp to sculpt with?

I tested the "human body" character by setting a VDM stamp (the square) and drawing all around the arm and it seems to work well.

What are you doing exactly?

I'm using a B&W Image followed by Sculpt using Displacement map. The result is what is shown in the first image.

Hi.

Its hard to tell what can be going on.

It could be due to a pose deformation.

We would need the actual scene to validate.

Can you send it via the logged request 08964753.

I will send you a message.

Please reply and attach the scene.

If the scene is over 12Mb , let me know and I will create an FTP container and send you the link.

Thanks.

You may have informed me of something I didn't know. The pose deformation, may not work, which doesn't make sense to me why it wouldn't. I just applied a sculpt with displacement on a bent object and it worked fine.

I'll have to send you the scene with just the object, do you want the displacement map as well ?

Hi Christopher,

I analysed the scene you sent us.

At first, I thought it may be a normals issue but they are
fine.
Look at the attached pic.

Its a case of UVs being too packed and not
covering the 0,0 to 1,1 space.

I also tested with a new cylindrical element made and UV'ed
in Softimage.

Once imported in Mudbox, all is good with the displacement.

Let us know if this answers your question.

Best regards,
