We need to add a custom plug-in to MoBu 2022 in our studio environment, for all our animators to use. However, when we try to point MoBu to the correct shared target folder for the plug-in, using Settings > Preferences... > SDK > Add it seems to have literally no effect.
When I try it, I can see the added folder gets written into the application prefs config file, as I end up with this:
[AdditionnalPluginPath]
Count = 1
PlugInPath0 = D:\\projects\\shooter\\mobu_tools\\plugins\\LiveLink\\2022
inside my C:\Users\user42\Documents\MB\2022\config\NR2020PC42.Application.txt file.
But even after restarting MoBu, the plugin never shows up.
However, if I copy the plug-in files directly to the original installation folder:
C:\Program Files\Autodesk\MotionBuilder 2022\bin\x64\plugins
then the plug-in does work fine, but this is not really a viable option in this scenario, as Program Files is not accessible in our studio environment without elevated admin rights that are not available to regular users.
Is there any way I can get this working? is there maybe some other place that MoBu looks for plugins that isn't C:\Program Files\? anywhere in \Program Data\ or \Documents\?
Is this a known bug in 2022? I also watched a Youtube video where the guy explains that the SDK > Add method doesn't work and must be avoided, instead advising users to copy the files to the C:\Program Files\ installation folder. ( https://youtu.be/OQswNxZxA4Y?t=192 )

Nevermind, I've found a valid workaround. We can add our custom plug-in paths to the MOTIONBUILDER_PLUGIN_PATH environment variable, and that seems to work fine.
