Moldflow 2017 Linux Version

I have dssp_jobserver for 2017 installed and the binary launches.  However, no clients can connect.  There is no firewall on the machine running the job manager.  Looking at the ports open when the service is running I can see 43921 and 43911 open.  However, 42911 does not open.

/etc/init.d/dssp_jobserver start
Started Autodesk Simulation Job Manager 2017 done

netstat -an|grep 43921
tcp 0 0 0.0.0.0:43921 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN

netstat -an|grep 43911
tcp 0 0 0.0.0.0:43911 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN

netstat -an|grep 42911

<no output returned>

There are no errors when the process starts either to the console to the messages file.  I have verified that /var/opt/Autodesk/dssp is read/writable by dssp account.

Any ideas?

Hi @Anonymous,

Welcome to the forums!! Smiley Happy

Sorry to hear the Job Server does not seem to be working correctly. I don't believe I have seen a specific port not open as you had mentioned. I wonder, were you able to try updating to the newer version of the Simulation Job Manager (v 6.1?

We recently released the one listed in the link below that contains some fixes, and I believe it did address a couple things related to sending jobs to a server. You will need to uninstall your current version of the SJM in order to install this new one (can uninstall through Windows Control Panel).

Hope this helps!

Hi @Anonymous,

I just wanted to check in to see if you were able to test the new Job Manager update as suggested. If that still doesn't seem to allow the clients to connect to it, I'd be happy to help further.

Regards,

Kristen Kilroy

Hi @Anonymous,

I've edited your previous forum post to remove yours and Sean's contact information. I will contact both of you directly through an Autodesk Technical Support Case this afternoon. Since other users may look to this forum post for help, I'll update the post while assisting with the proposed resolution.

Regards,

Kristen Kilroy

Hello @kristen.kilroy,

you suggested installing the new SJM 6.1. But until now there is only the Windows version available. But @Anonymous told of problems with the Linux solver. Will there be an updated Linux version soon?

Hi all,

@M.Brassel, the update listed would be installed on the client machines (where the analysis is set up), which are typically Windows.

In this instance, I connected with the user and updated the client machine (Windows system) to the new Simulation Job Manager then cleared the folders listed in my steps below to get the user up and running on their server.

  1. Close out of all Autodesk Moldflow products (in the quick access menu, also close out of the Simulation Job Manager and A360-if installed).
  2. If present within the Windows Control Panel Programs and Features - uninstall the program: Autodesk Simulation Job Manager (if not present, this step can be skipped).
  3. Download and run the Simulation Job Manager update to 6.1.
  4. Delete the files listed below in file directory: C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\Simulation Job Manager

jobmanager.db

storage.db

  1. Delete the folders listed below in file directory: C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Autodesk\

Simulation Job Manager

Web Services

  1.  Relaunch Moldflow Insight, open project.
  2. Open the Simulation Job Manager, then navigate to Server Management.
  3. Add your server (this was deleted during step 4 to reset the SJM).
  4. Test by right clicking "Start Analysis", then "Analyze on...".
  5. Select your server, and analysis should appear in the SJM.

As a side note - you can also set the server as the "Default" server to analyze on by following the steps listed in the help document listed below:

(I've also created this Autodesk Knowledge Article describing the issue/solution - note the link may not be available immediately after posting: AKN Article: Unable to run jobs on server with Moldflow Insight 2017)

Hope this helps!
