Autodesk 2023 and former versions

Hello,

I just installed the Autodesk Communicator 2023 to check whether it could read former versions of .mfr files.

The answer is : yes.

However, after the installation of the Communicator, I am not able to start the Synergy 2021 anymore on the computer.

It does not start, it does not show any messages why it is failing.

I deinstalled the communicator 2023.

Same problem...Synergy 2021 does not start.

Did anyone experience the same and found a solution for this problem?

P.S.: I also found a new program called Autodesk Identity Manager, which I cannot remember to agree being installed on the computer. Upon trying to deinstall it, I get the message that I will not be able to use Autodesk software anymore so I refrained from deinstalling it so far.

Hello,

installing the new software version is not a good solution for us.

With Communicator, I was just installing a viewer and not a part of our calculation chain.

We experienced in the past that by changing the version of Insight, we also get some different results in some areas like warpage, filling behavior etc.. To have a clean history within our projects, we cannot just make a hard switch from one version to another.

The acceptance of the simulation software would drop immensely if I tell my developing colleagues that because of a switch in the software, we now need a bigger press or injection unit.

In the past it was possible to run several versions of Insight on one computer. That way we could easily begin new projects with the new version while ending the older projects with the version they started with.

Hello @MichaelSchoo5437 ,

Can you uninstall/reinstall Synergy and Insight 2021?  2024 should be out this month, you could try installing Communicator 2024 once it is released.  Hopefully that does not have the same issue with 2021.

De- and reinstalling Moldflow 2021 on our calculation servers is a task for our software administration which takes some time.

I am sorry, but I will not be alpha-testing whether Communicator 2024 will have this problem solved and hope that this is the case. Several hours of working time is not something I am allowed to spend on this.

Thanks for your answers and your efforts...but I do not see a real solution here.

In my opinion, installing a viewer should not lead to limited access to the main software. As I have not seen other users complain about this, it might be a very specific topic for our company and our set-up and I can understand that it is no major issue for Autodesk.

Thanks again for your help...I will further examine this situation.
