API - export a list of all node names from a specific layer

Hello everybody,

currently I´m working on a script where I need to create a list in form of a txt file.

The list should include all node names of a specific layer.

After creating the list, it should be saved in the current project folder.

I´ve already searched in the Forum and googled a lot of tags about it. Unfortunately I found nothing regarding such a function.

The procedure should roughly look like this:

looking for a fixed layer called "Nodes" -> searching for all included nodes -> get node names -> save node names in a txt file (temporary) in the project folder -> In the txt file all names should be splitted by " ".

Can a experienced coder/scripter help me please?

regards,

Andreas

Hello Andreas,

first, there is no option in Moldflow API for a macro to "select by layer".

I have asked for this in Moldflow Idea Station:

API : select by layer in macros

Kudos it, if you agree.

Currently you need to select entity/entities (using for example Predicate) , and the look up the layer it is assigned to, and if matching search name add to a selection list. This is time consuming.

For example using Predicate to select Nodes, then get the node layer by using GetEntityLayer.

To improve speed, Purge Nodes, and Squeeze entity labels via Global Merge

Moldflow: How to fix gaps in node numbering

Hope this helps.

Berndt
