2018.2 3d analysis runs on one computer but not the other?

Two Computers: Both just loaded 2018.2 Insight

Test ran A model 3D Cool FEM and  model B a Dual Domain (Pack Fill Warp) on both computers

Note the T7500 should be approx 10x faster than the M4800

1) Dell Precision M4800

           A model-3D ran in 20 minutes

           B model-Dual Domain ran in 3 hours

2) Dell Precision T7500

A model 3D ran for 3 days until analysis stopped by user

B model DD ran in 20 Minutes

Question is the T7500 should be 10x faster than the M4800 which is true with the Dual Domain analysis but the 3D analysis does not run on the T7500 machine and I dont know why????  There are no errors and the T7500 runs at about 8% of the cpu when the M4800 runs at 90% of the cpu.

Hello @Anonymous,

Welcome to the Autodesk Moldflow forums!

In Dell precision T7500, it seems to be stuck in a process in Job manager.

Can you please try to clean up job manager by using the method described in the following URL;

“Moldflow jobs remain in a queued/scheduling status in the Simulation Job Manager”

https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/moldflow-adviser/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticl...

Another, typical reason why Cooling or Warp solver hangs is too high node label number. This is due model manipulation, i.e. copy, translate, delete element/nodes, re-mesh etc. To squeeze the node labels, please also check the following URL;

“To squeeze node labels”

http://help.autodesk.com/view/MFIA/2018/ENU/?guid=GUID-475D67DB-8D34-4A90-88A6-62E52B52D4A7

Thanks,

Hi Tetsuya,

Thanks for the advise on renumbering nodes.

I also used the default settings on the mold mesh generation

tool.  I had moved a few of the settings to create less mesh on

the mold and that modification confused the analysis so it didnt

run.

Thanks for the advise!!

I have determined that my T7500 will not run a 3D cool FEM analysis but I dont know why.

Another user ran a cool FEM analysis and it took 1.5 hours to run.  I took the study file from that user and put it on my machine and hit the start analysis button.......3 days later I stopped the analysis.....no log entries.....no errors.....and it showed the mhd3d running at 7000000K  for 3 days.

I can run Dual Domain and 3D cooling analysis but I dont understand why I cant run a 3D COOL FEM?  It even says its running in the analysis window.....stays at 10% and doesnt change

Is there something I can check to see why its not running?

Hello  @Anonymous,

Did you run the analysis on the local machine?

If so, can you please check whether you have sufficient disk space on the machine.

And please check if "Result prefixes" name for Cool(FEM) is not too long.

Select study on project tree >right click > Properties

 2018-04-12 17-56-30.gif2018-04-12 17-56-30.gif

Sometimes long names can cause problems to run the analysis.

Just in case, can you run with a short name such "test_study"?

If it still doesn't work, can you please try to re-install Moldflow Insight and Synergy?

Thanks,

Tetsuya

Hi,

Yes...running on a local machine......

I have 66 GB of space for this analysis.......

I have created a new file shorter.  Currently running.

I ran a cool pack fill warp (non FEM) yesterday and it ran for 3.5 hours.

I have unloaded and reloaded the whole software several times now.....last time was about 4 days ago and deleted any mention of Autodesk on disk.

I will repost status tomorrow.   Thanks

Also I just started the same analysis on my laptop and noticed the memory and cpu are working alot.....close to 100% on the cpu usage.

My desktop is only using memory and it is working at about 30%.....see the attached.

I have 24GB of RAM and 2x 2.67GB processors

Can you tell me why my cpu isnt running this analysis
