__Pref attribute assignment and export

Hi,

I have been trying for some time to assign a __Pref attribute ( = position primvar) to a geometry in Maya.  My final goal is to read the __Pref in Katana for lookdev/lighting purposes. Using Renderman on both.

Does anybody know of a workflow that actually works? How do you assign the Pref attribute in Maya?

I haven't found anything useful online yet, just old tutorials that are not valid anymore!

Ad a side note, I know the __Pref could be assigned easily from Houdini but we need the modelling department to include the primvar in their export process, so it has to come from Maya for pipeline consistency.

Thank you very much,

M.
