Issues with Arnold Spot light and other problems

Honestly I am so frustrated, I have never encountered so many issues with a software like I do now. I explained the issues I encountered before and in the end the issue with spot light that is crucial for my work.

Had 1 issue with lights before. Thank you Autodesk for fixing it. So far everything was fine.

But suddenly I was doing tests on directional light. First one looked great, I added 2nd one (by cloning it).

2nd did not work at all (see attachment of image 01,top directional light is a copy from bottom one.).

But never mind, it was light test, I had no time to play with it anymore.

I couldn't do any UV unwrapping. Maya allow me to do UV Unwrapping, but system doesn't recognize it as UV unwrapped information (had to do all unwrap work in 3D's Max). So, Substance painter do not bake the textures as well as Photoshop draw images doesn't work too.(Attached image nr.:02)

Done interior scene. First the Shaders worked very nicely accept 1 small issues, even the most rough materials was reflecting too much light.

But now when I had to do 2nd scene the shaders acts weird, so it looks creepy and animatic (Image 03). First time I added shaders and tried to render, it showed no colours on textures at all (Image 04). And all material had that grey bubble which looks like it has M letter (Maya actually still does show those "grey bubbles" instead of texture image (image 05). If I press on it, it shows me the texture once i starting to do something else, it goes back to "grey bubble" sign.

I don't have time to play with shaders anymore due to my deadlines, so I have decided to add simple colour and just focus on lighting only, without realistic shaders. But now I am having issues again!

I added spot light, now Spot light doesn't work properly and it use to! I tried to tick/untick "normal", increase exposure... Nothing happened. I render and get no light in IPR or Arnold Renderer (Image 06). After I restarted Maya,it was giving me same results. After few tries moving the light, recreate light... Render finally showed some signs of light life and the light had blue circle... (Image 07).

This is link of dropbox with Images and actual file with spot light error:

Honestly, I am lost, confused, stressed like hell... Please help.

And sorry if I have done grammar mistakes - have dyslexia, can't see it if I did.

Hi,

In that spotlight scene, the exposure is very high, you shouldn't need to go above ~20. I also noted that the light was positioned outside of the room.

I've attached a scene with showing different lighting setups including using a skydome and portal lights that might help you with your ambient lighting tests.

We do have some tutorials on lighting with example scene here : https://support.solidangle.com/x/Iw1kAg

It does mention about not using skydomes, but this was before the portal light was added.

As for your shading issues, without seeing the networks or the scenes it's hard to diagnose.

01.png - "normalize" is disabled, so you need to increase the Angle of the light.

02.png - do you have multiple UV sets on the geometry?

03.png - From the networks in that scene file, I can see you are texturing the bump depth, this is not advised as the values should all derive from the incoming texture. This may be the cause of the artefacts.

04.jpeg - this seems to be an overexposed light with flipped normals, possibly caused by the same bump mapping issues.

05.png - this is the icon that shaders/textures get when previews are disabled or if the shader cannot be previewed, it's nothing to worry about.

06.png - if you disable "normalize" it enables the use of "radius" which by default is 0.0. so giving the radius a value will make the light emit. more info: https://support.solidangle.com/x/zgxkAg

I know that my spotlight scene has 2 lights. I was following tutorials, that I will need 2 lights atm. But 1 is disabled. Only spotlight should work.

I do know that my exposure is too high, but that's the fun part,  above ~20 light doesn't work. Renders black screen, with or without "normalize" button ticked. The reason my exposure is 1000, just to see is light works at all. So, it does, but once it is less than 1000 it disappears. 😞 And what's with that blue colour on a floor instead of light? Is it mean anything?

P.S. Thank you for your reply and links, I have red those links before.
